On Saturday 21st June, BCW Counselling was lucky enough to be part of the Ferndown Fete on the Field, spending the day talking all things mental health with the local community.

We were there alongside Alexa, a fellow counsellor and the owner of Healthful Mind Clinic & Wellbeing Centre, one of the therapy rooms we work from on Station Road in West Moors. It was a fantastic opportunity to connect with people from Ferndown, West Moors, Ringwood, Verwood, and all over the BH22 area, as well as to network with other local businesses supporting wellbeing in the area.

Connecting with the BH22 Community and Raising Awareness of Mental Health Support

While many people understandably don’t feel comfortable talking openly about their mental health in a public space, several visitors took the opportunity to chat about loved ones who they feel may benefit from counselling. Common concerns included anxiety, low self-esteem, and feeling stuck in life — things we work with every day in our counselling practice.
We were able to offer reassurance that life doesn’t have to stay that way. Often, people just need to know that change is possible — and that small steps toward support can make a big difference.
Local Networking at Ferndown Fete — and a Lesson Learned with honey from Wimborne
There was a real community spirit at the event, and we thoroughly enjoyed speaking with stallholders and visitors alike. There were some fantastic local products on offer — including Ian’s Ferndown honey, which sadly sold out before I had a chance to grab a jar.. (I had to settle for Wimborne honey instead- fingers crossed it still helps with the hayfever! ) Events like this are a great reminder of how connected and supportive our local community is, and how a wide range of services can come together to support everyone’s mental health and wellbeing.
